Travel

We had a fairly uneventful journey to Heathrow, setting off at about 2.30am and arriving around 5.30am. Our flight to San Francisco wasn't until 10am but we like to be nice and early and it was good not having to rush around. The queue's weren't bad at all at the airport but unfortunately we got ushered into the self service check in area where a little United Airlines man insisted on pressing all the buttons for us. We were offered an upgrade to economy plus where you get a massive 5inch extra leg room, but the UA bloke just hit the No button and said it wasn't worth the extra 30 quid. Clearly this guy had never taken a long haul flight but by this point it was too late to argue, so we accepted our lot and cursed the interfering old chuff for 10 and a half of the 11 hours it took to fly to San Francisco with the seat in front touching our noses and our legs cramping up.

We only had a couple of hours in San Francisco which was just enough time to sample an airport diner and watch some of the planes take off. The flight to Honolulu was packed and the sleep deprivation was beginning to takes it's toll, but it all seemed worth it when we touched down in night time Hawaii 5 hours later and caught our ride to the Hotel.

Total travel time from home to hotel was about 29 hours and we were both like the living dead by the time we found our room, but we still managed to unpack and find our way across the road to Dennny's for an all night breakfast!
